All Done!

I just wanted to do a quick post for the finished Broken Cable Rib socks.




This pattern seemed to work up quickly and the results look masterful with very little effort! On the feet, the socks are soft and snuggly. They're going to be perfect for cold, damp days. I love them!
I don't know if you can see it, but the yarn did an unusual thing. The second sock has many more "red spots" than the first and, as a result, is a different color overall. My husband can't see it, but it even shows up in the 2nd photo above. It doesn't really matter, but I've never seen anything like it from a single skein. Very interesting.
Now, I'm going to try to finish that green baby blanket....

Hot Friggin Socks, Baby!

There they are! The last entry in the L&V Sock Marathon. The yarn is Opal Hand Paint #12 and it's a basic toe-up, short row heel with calf increases.
It's 100 degrees in Philadelphia today, so the photo is the best I could do while wearing calf length wool socks. I've knitted 3.04 miles worth of sock yarn since mid January, and my sock drawer is lookin' good! Here's a photo of my L&VSM projects:



I guess I had/have a lot of blue sock yarn. See, I learn something about myself every day.

New Socks!

I bought this yarn to make socks for my husband and he wasn't really impressed. That means it's mine! And now, so are these!





They're kind of a boyish color for me, but they go with everything! Also, they're super soft after washing.
The yarn is Regia India Cotton in "Goa".
I worked cuff down and did a basic 6x2 rib.

Rockin' Sock

I have been working on my first Rockin' Sock Club sock. It's my first foray into short row toes and heels and I really love the pattern so far. I was really skeptical about knitting a medium weight yarn on such tiny needles because I figured it would feel like walking around in cardboard boxes. They are very sturdy but not stiff like I feared.





The pattern is named "Inside Out" because the socks are reversible. I happen to favor the look of the "inside", which is pictured here.
I haven't gotten much work done because I've been so busy dying yarn. Ever since the mention on Lime & Violet, I can't keep yarn in the shop! This is the best problem I've ever had!
Knitters Rock!

These are knit from Regia Jacquard #5180 using a basic cuff down stockinette pattern. I think she'll like them!
I'm currently working on a pair of Monkey socks in the STR Foo Foo for my sister. I'll post photos soon.

I just got most of these in the mail this week. I won't order any more sock yarn for a very long time. I promise.

Yay! Lime & Violet Sock Marathon 2007!

On Flikr there is a group where you photograph your sock yarn stash, figure out the total yardage, translate it into miles, and then try to knit as much of it as you can by July. If you click on the photo below you will not only see pertinent yarn info, but will be able to link to the group from there.



Already this group has made me feel better about the size of my stash (one knitter had to post 4 photos to show it all) and it's a little therapeutic. I have brought my "problem" out into the light. I've taken a photo and posted it for all to see. I've labeled each and every individual "lapse". Now I can work though my problem/stash. Good stuff.
And you know I super-duper vacuumed the rug and locked the cat in the basement before I put all that yarn on the floor!

I Have a Really Good Reason This Time!

It's Violet's Pink Ribbon Yarn by Lisa Souza ( It's under sock yarns and at the very bottom of the page). Proceeds from it's purchase go towards the medical bills of Miss Violet of Lime and Violet fame. Recently she found some alarming lumps (she calls them rocks) in her breast and her insurance company will not be covering a chunk of the costs(!!!!). So I bought the yarn and will join the Miss Violet's Pink Ribbon KAL. You should too. It'll make you feel good-good-good-good...

If I had gotten some for Christmas...

..it probably wouldn't have made any difference. I just ordered these...

AAAAgh! My Eyes are Burning!

Well, I finished my last gift. As requested, one pair of BRIGHT orange socks for a young man at church. He wanted big, fat, orange, cotton socks. So, I used Sugar n'Cream "Hot Orange". Look, there really are presents ON the tree. Just like Elvis said!
