No Harm in Yarn

Can't we all just knit along?

Hello, Kitty!

Marci's Hello Kitty

I made this for my boss back in December and forgot about it. Now I need to clear some old photos from my phone. I started with a pattern from somewhere on the internet and changed it because the head needed to be rounder (according to me). The whole beaded snowflake and "yarn bow" thing were last minute embellishments. I attached it to her gift in lieu of a bow. Meow! Please forgive the background of Diet Coke in the cup holder. If I can find this pattern again, I'll list it here!

Icarus Shawl

Icarus Shawl 1 Repeat

I've started Icarus and I'm using handpaintedyarn.com Pink Frost Laceweight Merino. There's like a beige thing going on that I'm not sure I like. I could always overdye it when it's finished.

My Husband's Socks

... on me. I've decided to give these as a birthday gift in August. I used my own pattern and size 2 needles. I really like this Regia India Cotton. Pretty colors, but still manly. Right?

We have a pair!

Details:
Pattern: Jaywalker from Magknits
Yarn: Trekking XXL #75
Size 1 needles

I'm really happy with both the pattern and yarn. Although they aren't perfectly matched stripe-wise, they are obviously a pair. With Trekking, you don't know what will happen next in the stripe pattern and I love that. Also, These are densely knitted so they'll be great when it's windy and cold. They do hug the ankle and heel very nicely ( Some knitters have said it feels tight. I think it is perfect and socks always loosen up after you have them on anyhow), just as I had hoped. They're my new favorites!

One down and...

I have finished one of the Jaywalkers socks.

Here Frida and Diego look at my Jaywalker disapprovingly. Hey, they did much worse than jaywalking in their time! Sheesh!

Here I pretend I'm making my dog smell my foot (a favorite pastime of mine).

I've already cast on for the second sock because I'm afraid that my knitting project ADD will take over if it's not started already.

Project spectrum: July

I just signed up for Project Spectrum. I happen to be knitting purpley Jaywalkers anyhow. I'm using Trekking XXL in color 75. I bought this ages ago and I haven't seen it anywhere online. This Jaywalker pattern is nice. Has anyone ever heard of it???? I perused through the readers gallery at Grumperina's blog. Gorgeous socks! They seem to fit well in the ankle. Maybe I won't have elephant ankles in these! If this pattern continues to please, I see the Christmas socks as Jaywalkers. We'll see!

Those stupid tests were right!

Do you remember once a year, in Elementary school, they would give us those tests to see what our strengths were (I guess)? This is kind of like those. I got the same results too. Interesting...

I got these too!

Trekking XXL 100

Trekking XXL 108

I bet I make someone out there feel better about how much yarn they buy. I'm sure there is someone out there who shows my blog to their husband and says "I don't buy more yarn than this weirdo!" Glad I could help.

I have finished this too!

That makes me one more item closer to starting Icarus. Baby steps, darling.

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat.

All of you who knit for the holidays know that often you need to get started when temperatures are in the 90's. I will be giving socks this year. Here are some of the yarns I've ordered:

For my Husband Regia India Cotton 4307

For my Mom Trekking XXL in 078

For my Sister Trekking XXL in 110

FOR ME! (Trekking XXL in 105)

I ordered them from Astrid's Dutch Obsessions and they could take up to 2 months to get here. That gives me enough time to finish the Town and Country scarf and start Icarus. This is the plan, anyway.
